Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres (4-2) vs. Mackens Semerzier (5-3) and Jon Madsen (7-0) vs. Mike Russow (13-1) will be streamed live on Facebook prior to the television broadcast of UFC Fight Night 24, UFC officials announced today.
The bouts will be streamed on Facbook.com/UFC beginning at 9 p.m. EST. The live Spike TV broadcast will then begin at 10 p.m. EST.
Caceres will fight for the first time since his time on The Ultimate Fighter. Caceres was plagued by injuries following his stint on the show, leading to the postponement of his UFC debut. Dubbed Bruce Leeroy for his yellow jumpsuit and crazy antics, Caceres was one of the more polarizing figures on TUF. He consistently bothered fellow castmates with his antics before being eliminated by Michael Johnson in the semi-finals.
Semerzier enters the fight on a three fight losing streak after starting his career 5-0. It has been speculated that Semerzier has been kept on after the WEC merger thanks to his exciting style. His last fight with Cub Swanson was an exciting back and forth affair that nabbed the fighters the Fight of the Night bonus.
Meanwhile, Madsen and Russow meet in a heavyweight bout.
Jon Madsen has looked great since his stint on TUF. He has won all four of his bouts since the show, including impressive performances over Karlos Vemola and Gilbert Yvel. Primarily a wrestler, Madsen has shown greatly improved stand-up as well, especially in his win over Vemola. Madsen was able to keep Vemola at bay with solid striking throughout the entire three rounds.
Russow fights for the first time since his shocking knockout over Todd Duffee. Russow was soundly dominated for two and a half round before landing the perfect shot that won him the fight. It was his second straight win inside the UFC, and his eighth straight overall.
UFC Fight Night 24 is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Phil Davis and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
