CSAC medically suspends 7 WEC 41 competitors

The California State Athletic have issued nine medical suspensions following last weekend's "WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II" fight card. WEC 41 took place on June 7 from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.

The suspensions consist of three winning fighters, Manny Gamburyan, Antonio Banuelos and Seth Dikun, and four losing fighters, Urijah Faber, Noah Thomas, Seth Dikun and John Franchi.

Out of all seven WEC 41 fighters issued medical suspensions, John Franchi's suspension is the only one that ends earlier then December.

Franchi's suspension ends on August 6 due to a cheek laceration he suffered in his loss to Manny Gamburyan.

Main event fighter and former featherweight champion Urijah Faber has been suspended until December 4 because of a broken right hand he suffered during his loss to current WEC featherweight champ Mike Brown but he is eligible to return to competition earlier if he is able to obtain clearance from a doctor.

Former UFC lightweight and TUF 5 runner-up, Manny Gamburyan, will be also be out of action until December 4 due to a broken hand, unless cleared by a doctor to return to earlier.

Also suspended is co-main event competitor Cub Swanson who will be also out until December 4 following his brutal TKO loss to Jose Aldo. Swanson is required to have a mandatory CAT scan for the nasty gash he received courtesy of Aldo's left knee.

Here is the complete list of the CSAC's WEC 41 medical suspensions:

Urijah Faber is suspended from competition and training until December 4 for a broken right hand, unless cleared earlier by a doctor.

Cub Swanson has to get a mandatory CAT scan prior to returning and is suspended from competition and training until December 4 due to head injuries and facial lacerations.

Manny Gamburyan is suspended from competition and training until December 4 for a broken right hand, unless cleared earlier by a doctor.

John Franchi is suspended from competition and training until August 6 for a left cheek laceration.

Antonio Banuelos is suspended from competition and training until December 4 for a lack of corneal reflex in his right eye, unless cleared earlier by an ophthalmological physician.

Noah Thomas is suspended from competition and training until December 4 for a nasal fracture, unless cleared earlier by a doctor. Thomas is also suspended until August 6 for facial lacerations suffered in the fight.

Seth Dikun is suspended from competition and training until December 4 for a possible broken right foot, unless cleared earlier by a doctor.
