Cain Velasquez To Face Heath Herring At UFC 99 In Germany
by Jason Benfari on February 26, 2009

Highly regarded undefeated heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez has agreed to face Heath Herring at UFC 99 in June. The fight, first reported by MMAMania, has since been confirmed by our sources though bout agreements have yet to be signed by either fighter.

Velasquez (5-0), has smashed through every opponent thrown his way while stringing together an impressive run of four first round KO's to start his career. He took an extra round in dispatching of the very tough, and previously never stopped, Denis Stojnic in his last outing at UFC 95 and appears ready for a step up in competition. He'll take that step at UFC 99 when he squares off against UFC veteran Heath Herring.

Herring, (28-14-1), is an extremely tough fighter who holds big wins over Cheick Kongo, Mark Kerr, and Evan Tanner and is currently the only man to take UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar to a decision. Herring recently broke his orbital bone in his scrap with Lesnar, but appears to be all healed up now and back in training.

Though bout agreements have yet to be signed, sources assure FiveKnuckles.com that the bout has been agreed upon and the fight is a go for June 13 in Germany.
