A UFC 127 main card welterweight tilt between Carlos Condit (26-5) and Chris Lytle (30-17-5) that was destined to be a "Fight of the Night" candidate will no longer take place on the card due to an injury suffered by Condit.
The fast approaching UFC 127 event takes place on Feb. 26 at the ACER Arena in Sydney, Australia.
News of Condit's injury was first reported by Sportsnet.ca. The former WEC welterweight champion will reportedly be sidelined for a minimum of a month thus ruling him out for the planned UFC 127 bout with Lytle.
Condit was looking to pick up his fourth straight win, as he has previously defeated Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald and in his most recent bout he scored a shocking first round knockout win over former contender Dan Hardy. Prior to the wins, he was defeated in his Octagon debut against Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 18.
Sensing the near end of his 12-year MMA career, Lytle is embarking on one last run to a UFC title shot. He is currently on a four-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Matt Serra at UFC 119 in September. Previous wins during Lytle's streak have came over the likes of Kevin Burns, Brian Foster and Matt Brown.
UFC 127 is headlined by a very interesting welterweight bout between former UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn and contender Jon Fitch. In the co-main event, polarizing British middleweight Michael Bisping will take on hard-hitting Massachusetts native Jorge Rivera.
