Chael Sonnen is done with Anderson Silva, looks for fights with Jon Jones, dos Santos and GSP
by Hubert Lau on December 23, 2011

Chael Sonnen is done with Anderson Silva and looks to fight Jon Jones, Junior dos Santos or George St. Pierre instead according to his interview with Michael Landsberg on Off The Record.

"I'm done with the guy...This guy is cold product, man, he's like jerry curls and Pepsi clear. He's yesterday's news. I destroyed this guy back when he was tough. That was years ago. He's so far over the hill and past his prime, it's not worth talking about," Sonnen said.

This is a complete 180 from just a few months ago when Sonnen called out Silva for a rematch after Sonnen handily defeated Brian Stann at UFC 136. Silva never took the bait and their rematch was never scheduled.

It seems now Sonnen has lost his patience with the middleweight champion and has his sights on other matchups, even picking a fight with in the heavyweight division.

"I'm going to become the number one contender on January 28. But despite what you may think, I'm not going to use that voucher to fight Anderson Silva. I'll be looking at dos Santos, (Jon) Jones, and possibly St. Pierre. But that, I will take that voucher to Dana White and I will pick one of those three guys. My time with Anderson is done," Sonnen said.

Time will tell if Sonnen gets his desired matchups. Sonnen is currently set to fight Mark Munoz at UFC on Fox 2 with the winner receiving a title shot against Silva, one that Sonnen is apparently not interested in anymore.

"Anderson Silva is no more the champion than the man on the moon and trying to pretend that he is is a waste of my breath. Jon Jones is a real man that will accept challenges," Sonnen said.

 |  (51) Comments Giada Esposito: OMG, this is great stuff. I'm actually hoping Sonnen wins now if he backs this up- Sonnen vs. Jones would be the best. Simply the best. :) nygiant: LOL at this guy calling out Dos Santos...MAYBE Jones....certainly would be alot bigger then GSP thug4less: Sonnen lives in his own fantasy world. Jones would wreck him, Dos Santos would wreck him, Silva would wreck him. The only one he has a shot against is GSP because of the size advantage and I don't think Sonnen could even make 170 unless he stopped shooting roids... er... having testosterone replacement therapy. Wandering_Minstrel: Gold... its pure gold. If my band goes big I want to write his walkout theme... :p GO HARD: Jones responded to Chael..." Someone tell Chael he knows where I'll be waiting" nygiant: lol That is funny if true...I don't even know why I said MAYBE in my earlier post...Jones would most likely merk this lunatic The Hitman: Chael Sonnen is my favorite person in the world. Lady Dragon 420: Jones would beat the brakes off him idk about the other 2 though. SicJits: I lol@Chael, but he could be a tougher opponet then Shougn, Page, and Machida were in all honesty....match ups make fights. Chael would eat shots to get the td, but Bones more then likely would sub him being over-aggresive early. Bones ate a few "quality" shots from the Dragon, but we still haven't seen him on his back....could Sonnen put him there? Sonnen has only been ko'd 1x(and once from a cut), it be more interesting imo then some other fights for Bones at 205 flyangler: Chael and Henderson are probably the toughest matchups for Bones at the moment, but I don't see either making it past the 3rd round. Dos Santos would kill him. GSP would have a tough time with him, but he ain't moving up to fight Sonnen. This is just lip service from Chael to force a title rematch with Anderson. GO HARD: i dont think there is any threats to Bones... except Andy! Wandering_Minstrel: Personally, I think Chael could pose problems for Jones. Only one person thus far has taken the fight to Bones, Machida, and if that damn cut hadn't have happened I think the fight could have gone differently. Chael gets in your face better than any other fighter. He lacks any fear or respect for any opponent. He walked through Anderson Silva to take him down repeatedly. Admittedly, Jones has the size and reach advantage, but he's never had anyone put any kind of pressure on him (with apologies to Machida) the way Sonnen does his business. It'd be an intriguing matchup. GO HARD: Chael said "Brock was Robbed"
