Chan Sung Jung ready for Jose Aldo whenever he gets his title shot
by Hubert Lau on December 20, 2011

Chan Sung Jung, more famously known as the Korean Zombie, is ready to take on UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, whenever he gets his title shot according to bloodyelbow.com.

"I doubt that they'll make that match up right now...I'm guessing that the matchmakers will give me at least one fight and if I win that then maybe I'll be in line for a title shot, but that's up to the UFC to decide. But, whenever I get the shot, I'll be ready," Jung said.

Jung last fought at UFC 140 against Mark Hominick and went into the bout as a heavy underdog. Hominick was the only man in recent times to have even come close to challenging Aldo's featherweight title.

"Regardless of what people were saying about the fight, I was confident going into it. You always feel less pressure as the underdog, so that makes it easier sometimes," Jung said.

Jung would go on to stun the MMA world with a seven second KO, tied the UFC's record for fastest KO, against Hominick when he over committed on a left hook only to meet a straight right from the "Korean Zombie".

Jung will continue to train with his teammates at Korean Top Team but is open to training with Urijah Faber and the members of Team Alpha Male in the future.

"I think I've improved my game overall and I keep trying to improve as an all around fighter. This is mixed martial arts, so it's important to work on all facets of your game, whether it's striking, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, whatever," Jung said.

With is his win over Hominick, Jung is apart of a small list of viable challengers in the 145lb division. Among them are Team Alpha Male product, Chad Mendes, and Shooto champion, Hatsu Hioki.

"They're all tough fighters. There are no easy match ups in the UFC. They all pose their own unique challenges and strong points, so I wouldn't really call any of them better or worse match ups," Jung said when talking about possible fights with Mendes and Hioki.

Currently as Jung awaits his next matchup, Mendes is scheduled to contest Aldo for his featherweight title at UFC 142. Hioki well face Bart Palaszewski at UFC 144.

 |  (17) Comments Mtx: That would be too much for you Korean Zombie but can't deny it, it would be one hell of a fight. seedheadondatrak: Zombie vs the winner of Hioki/Bart P. for the next title shot? seedheadondatrak: Man, forgot about Poirier and Koch, they're up there too. The Hitman: Aldo would smash KZ. Quickly and violently. Hominick would beat him in a rematch. Not to take anything away from the KO, but Hominick made a silly mistake. thug4less: Sorry but Jung would get demolished by Aldo. His kickboxing/boxing defense isn't good enough to really prevent him from getting exploded on and I just don't think he's fast enough. That said... I never counted Jung out against Hominick! Who thought that Hominick would beat Jung? Why? Just because Hominick managed to not get KO'd by a sick Aldo? Dude ended the fight with a massive lump on his head that looked like it would hatch any second. He at a LOT of shots in that fight. That led me to believe that his stand-up was way overrated and Jung's is way underrated... so it was a toss-up to me. GO HARD: i dont think hominicks stand up is overrated at all... he is the bettter striker between the two but he made a mistake and paid for it.
