"The Korean Zombie" is set to fight "The Diamond" in the main event at UFC on Fuel 3 according to ufc.com.
The matchup between Jung and Poirier was announced yesterday and their fight will be a three round featherweight bout. Both men are at the brink of becoming 145lb's elites and the result of their fight could very well determined the next title challenger for featherweight champion, Jose Aldo.
Jung (12-3) is on the heels of a two fight win streak that includes a Submission of the Year worthy win over Leonard Garcia. When they two re-matched at UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis, Jung sunk in a twister choke in the closing moments of the second round. Jung would follow up with a seven second knockout win over former title challenger, Mark Hominick, at UFC 140.
Poirier (12-1) last fought at UFC 143 and handily defeated UFC newcomer, Max Holloway, via mounted triangle armbar in the first round. That win adds to his win streak, now extended to five fights. Poirier holds notable wins over Josh Grispi and Jason Young.
UFC on Fuel 3 is expected to be held on May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
