Charles Oliveira looks for a "Fight of the Night" performance against Donald Cerrone when the two square off at UFC on Versus 5, now renamed to UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle, on August 14 according to tatame.com.
Oliveira (14-1 (1 no contest)) will be looking for a definitive victory this time around as his last bout with Nik Lentz ended in no contest after an illegal knee strike from Oliveira prompted his win to be overturned at UFC on Versus 4. His bout with Cerrone (15-3 (1 no contest)) is just two months since his bout with Lentz.
"I'm loving the fact I've been fighting a lot, I like fighting a lot so I can keep my rhythm. I know it's good to rest for a while, but my body's doing just fine, it's not complaining, so I have no reasons to be away from the octagon. This sequence is a good this for me and I want to evolve more and more" Oliveira said.
Match-up wise, both men have shown their willingness to stand and trade and are complemented by an excellent ground game. With 19 submission wins between them, seven for Oliveira and 12 for Cerrone, Cerrone's interviews declaring the bout to be a pure striking affair might not be play out that way come August 14.
"I'll tell you something: I'm not sure, but I'll guess he won't like to trade punches with me, I believe he'll try to take me down. But if he wants to strike, he can come because I'm 100% ready to go...He's coming from a win, and I'm coming from a No Contest and that octagon will be heated up, you can bet I'll make it the FOTN, and if it's not, it'll be the best KO or submission of the night. We'll both bet everything, it'll be a great fight, and I hope I'm blessed to bring the win to Brazi", Oliveira said.
UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle will be held on August 14 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Headlining are welterweights, Dan Hardy fighting Chris Lytle. Oliveira and Cerrone will be a part of the main card which also features Amir Sadollah taking on Duane Ludwig and Ben Henderson fighting Jim Miller. Prelims are set to air via facebook.
