Chase Beebe vs. Yoshihiro Maeda set for DREAM 12
by Jacob Camargo on October 02, 2009

DREAM announced today at a press conference the addition of a featherweight bout between former WEC bantamweight champ Chase Beebe and former WEC bantamweight contender Yoshiro Maeda for its upcoming DREAM 12 event.

Both men will look to pick up a much a needed win as both have struggled since losing to former WEC bantamweight champ Miguel Torres last year in separate title bouts. Beebe and Maeda also made early exits out of DREAM's Featherweight Grand Prix earlier this year.

Beebe will first have to come out uninjured in his upcoming bout against Mike Easton in the main event of Ultimate Warrior Challenge's Saturday night event in Virginia. Beebe and Easton were originally slated to fight at a UWC event on Feb. 21, however, Beebe didn't show up to the weigh-ins citing an injury. Beebe would later compete at DREAM.7 on March 8.

Beebe (12-4) is currently on a three fight losing streak, which includes losses in the WEC to Miguel Torres and Will Ribeiro, and a loss to Joe Warren in his DREAM debut in March. Prior to the losses, he won seven straight from Sept 2006 to Sept. 2007. Beebe has finished an amazing 10 of his 12 career wins by submission and holds other notable wins in his career over Eddie Wineland and Rani Yahya.

Maeda (25-7-2) has shown mixed results as of late. He is 3-3 in his last six bouts most recently scoring a DQ victory over Kleber Koike at DEEP: "Osaka Impact" in August. Maeda previously defeated Micah Miller in the first round of DREAM's featherweight grand prix, but he would go on to lose to Hiroyuki Takaya in the tournament's second round.

The Pancrese and WEC veteran, Maeda, will have the home crowd behind him as he trains out of Osaka, Japan. He holds other notable wins over current WEC fighters Charlie Valencia and Fredson Paixao.

Dream 12 takes place on Oct. 25 at the Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan and will air in North America on HDNet. The event will take place inside a six-sided cage, a first for the promotion which had used a ring for its previous eleven events.
