Heavyweight strikers, Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione, are set for UFC 137 according to ufc.com.
This bout is sure to bring fireworks as both men are fresh off of knockout wins in their last octagon outing.
Kongo (16-6-2) defeated Pat Barry at UFC on Versus 4 via highlight reel knockout in the first round. After getting dropped twice by Barry, Kongo rallied to deliver a strike that sent the aggressive Barry limp to the canvas. Kongo is 2-2-1 in his last five fights.
Mitrione (5-0) defeated heavyweight young gun, Christian Morecraft, on the same event. Mitrione has shown drastic improvements to his game since his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter 10. Additionally, four of his wins come from stoppages.
UFC 137 is scheduled on October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by the UFC's six time defending welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, taking on Nick Diaz. Other bouts planned for the fall event include BJ Penn fighting Carlos Condit in a welterweight bout. Heavyweights, Mirko Filipovic and Roy Nelson will look to snap their losing streaks with a win over the other. George Roop to fight Japanese import, Hatsu Hioki.
