A welterweight bout between the hard-hitting Chris Lytle and Korean Dong Hyun Kim is in the works for UFC 110 on Feb. 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. News of the bout was first reported by MMA Fanhouse.
Lytle was originally set to fight Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19 in September but was forced off the event due to a severe knee injury. He underwent surgery to replace his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and repair his medial meniscus.
Lytle (27-17-5) has been up and down as of late, going 3-3 in his last six fights. He last saw action at TUF 9 finale in June, where he defeated Kevin Burns, earning him his third straight "Fight of the Night" bonus. Lytle has put together a 6-9 record during his long tenure with the UFC, with his first Octagon appearance dating back to November 2000 at UFC 28.
During his 10-year career, Lytle has fought for a variety of other notable promotions such as WEC, Cage Rage, Pancrese and HOOKnSHOOT. He has finished 21 of his 27 career wins including 17 by submission and he holds other notable career wins over Aaron Riley, Pat Healy, Matt Brown and Kazuo Misaki.
Kim hasn't fought since notching a unanimous decision win over TJ Grant at UFC 100 in July. He was scheduled to face Dan Hardy at UFC 105 on Nov. 14, but he withdrew from the bout due to a undisclosed injury. Kim sports a 3-0 (1 NC) UFC record, with prior wins over Matt Brown and Jason Tan as well as a no contest against Karo Parisyan.
Kim has fought most of his five-year career with Spirit MC and Deep, fighting a combined 10 of his 14 career bouts with both promotions, eight coming with the latter. He sports an unbeaten 12-0-1 MMA record with seven of those wins ending by stoppage.
Though officially unannounced, UFC 110 will likely be headlined by an explosive middleweight contest between Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama. Other bouts rumored for the event include Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Ben Rothwell, Rich Franklin vs. Keith Jardine and Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski.
