by Jacob Camargo on June 07, 2010

Undefeated heavyweight prosect Christian Morecraft has signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and is expected to make his debut with the promotion against Stefan Struve at UFC 117 on August 7 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

News of Morecraft's UFC signing and bout with Struve was first reported by MMA FIght Council.

Morecraft is 2-0 so far in 2010, most recently defeating Lee Beane at CFX 9: "Finally" on May 28. He has fought his entire two-year career in Massachusetts, fighting for promotions such as Reality Fighting and Cage Fighting Xtreme, where he holds the promotion's heavyweight title.

Morecraft has put together a perfect 6-0 MMA record since turning pro in April 2008, with all six of his wins being by first round stoppage including three by TKO and the other three by submission. He currently hones his skills at Cape Cod Mixed Martial Arts in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Struve (19-4) is coming off a first round TKO loss to "The Ultimate Fighter" 10 winner Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. Prior to the loss, he was on the brink of breaking into title contention in the UFC heavyweight division after three straight wins over Denis Stojnic, Chase Gormley and Paul Buentello.

The 21-year-old, 6-foot-11 Dutch fighter now sports a 3-2, with his only other UFC loss coming in his Octagon debut against Junior dos Santos at UFC 95 last February. He has scored stoppages in all but one of his 19 career wins, including an impressive 14 by submission. Struve holds notable career wins over Marcus Sursa, Colin Robinson and Mario Neto.

UFC 117 is headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between current champion Anderson Silva and outspoken challenger Chael Sonnen. Also, former longtime UFC welterweight champion and recent UFC Hall-of-Fame inductee Matt Hughes will meet Ricardo Almeida in the night's co-main event.
