Former light-heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell has teamed up with Eddie Bravo to improve his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills.
On Dec. 23, Bravo left the following post on his Twitter account:
"Chuck Liddell officially joins the 10th Planet family.Einstein&I will do r best 2 turn him into a jiu jitsu master"
Liddell, who is very well-known for his striking capabilities, is rarely ever seen on the floor. However, since signing on to coach The Ultimate Fighter 11, he will have to face opposing coach Tito Ortiz at the end of the season. With Ortiz's wrestling talent, it seems as if Liddell is boning up on his jiu-jitsu skills for their encounter.
Throughout his 11-year career, Liddell has only been submitted once. In his third MMA fight at UFC 19 in March 1999, Liddell took on Jeremy Horn, who won via technical submission (arm triangle choke). Liddell has since admitted that at that point, he had not been training regularly in jiu-jitsu and did not have the skills to compete with Horn on the ground.
Liddell joins a strong list of Bravo's students, which include Shinya Aoki, UFC commentator Joe Rogan, and welterweight title contender Dan Hardy.
