Chuck Liddell may not be fighting in the UFC right now, but Dana White is still giving him money.
On Aug. 31, White made a $10,000 bet with Liddell about Liddell's weight. During the weekend of UFC 101 in early Aug., the two men were working out together. According to White, even though Liddell said he weighed 232 pounds, he looked to be around 250 pounds.
"I said, 'You've got to weigh 214 pounds by Sept. 15,'" White said.
Liddell had work cut out for him. He had two weeks to lose the weight.
Yesterday, Liddell posted an update on his progress via Twitter:
"Dana you r going to lose, have my money ready I emailed u a pic I'm 214 with 2 days to go I'd put it on here but I haven't figured that out."
White promptly uploaded the photo onto Twitter so that fans could see Liddell's progress. The picture was retweeted by many.
While the picture looks photoshopped - as seen by the color difference of Liddell's skin between his torso and the rest of his body - Liddell is confident that he has lost the weight and will earn $10,000 on Tuesday.
He left another message for White: "214 today have my money ready."
When White made the bet, he did not know that Liddell had signed up to appear on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars." Currently, Liddell is burning 4,500 calories a day during practice. White has stated that he may have made a bad bet and knows that he might have to hand over $10,000.
Liddell's last fight in the Octagon took place on April 18, 2009 at UFC 97, where he suffered a devastating first-round TKO loss to Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua. In a post-fight conference, White said that Liddell was retired from that point on. Liddell kept quiet on the subject for a short amount of time, but later, he and his trainer, John Hackleman, said that he was not yet retired.
Liddell and White have talked about the 'Iceman' returning to the Octagon. At UFC 102, White said, Liddell was texting him throughout the fights, saying that he wants to get back into the Octagon.
White also offered Liddell a salary to stay on board with the UFC, not fighting, but the position was never put into details, and therefore, it never was sorted out.
Weigh in for Liddell is tomorrow.
