Two heavyweight bouts between Cole Konrad vs. Paul Buentello and Ricco Rodriguez vs. Seth Petruzelli are added to Bellator 48 according to mmafighting.com.
Konrad (7-0) will be looking to stay undefeated and extend his winning streak to 8-0 as he takes on Buentello. A member of Brock Lesnar's Deathclutch camp, Konrad broke out onto the MMA scene with seven straight wins in 2010 and became Bellator's heavyweight champion.
Buentello (29-13) has been 4-4 in his last 8 bouts and his fight with Konrad will be his first since suffering a back injury that delayed their bout which was originally scheduled for Bellator 42. Konrad vs. Buentello is a non-title fight.
Both Rodriguez and Petruzelli will be making their Bellator debut at a catch-weight bout of 230 pounds, although Bellator is billing the fight as a heavyweight affair. Rodriguez (46-11) won his last 11 bouts as he steps in to fight Petruzelli and will be his first bout in a major MMA promotion since his departure from the UFC back in late 2003.
Petruzelli (14-6) was also released from the UFC after a 0-4 record, last losing to Karlos Vemola at UFC 122, but rebounded with a win in a local MMA promotion. "The Silverback" is more famously known as the man that derailed Kimbo Slice's run with EliteXC with a 14 second KO win over the internet sensation back in 2008.
Bellator 48 will take place on August 20, 2011 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
