Corey Hill and Luigi Fioravanti get back on winning track outside of the UFC
by Mitch Ciccarelli on January 25, 2010

Over a year ago at the "UFC Fight for the Troops" card, Ultimate Fighter season five cast member Corey Hill suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent memory. The 6'4 Hill fell victim to a brutal leg break courtesy of a leg kick that was checked by opponent Dale Hartt back in December of 2008. The injury has put Hill on the sidelines for over 13 months but the hungry lightweight finally made his return last night in Niagara Falls, New York on the Raging Wolf VI "Mayhem in the Mist" card.

Hill defeated Jason Trzewieczynski by unanimous decision in the co-main event. The tall lightweight was hesitant at first but eventually was able to find his rhythm and out-point Trzewieczynski. With the victory, Hill ups his overall record to 2-2. Rumor has it that Hill is still under contract with the UFC and was allowed to take this fight as a warm-up before he makes his Octagon return in mid-2010.

Don't be fooled by Hill's record, he is one of the most impressive athletic specimens in the lightweight division. While still green in a lot of areas, standing 6'4 and weighing in at 155-lbs. gives Hill a huge reach advantage over all of his opponents. Any fighter or coach that has ever worked with Hill has been completely blown away by his work ethic and drive to excel in this sport.

Hopefully for Hill's sake, his return to the UFC will be a successful one and he can continue his climb up the lightweight ladder.

Fellow UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti was also a winner on the Raging Wolf VI card, taking out TUF 8 alum Shane Primm by unanimous decision in the night's main event.

Fioravanti is now 3-1 since being released by the UFC last year. If "The Italian Tank" continues his winning ways he may get snatched up by Strikeforce, or even possibly re-signed to the UFC by the end of the year.
