Coty Wheeler vs. Charlie Valencia signed for WEC 43

A bantamweight bout between Coty Wheeler and Charlie Valencia has been added to the quickly growing WEC 43 event, which will take place on September 2 from the Covelli Center in Youngstown, Ohio. News of the bout comes via MMAjunkie.com.

WEC 43 will be headlined by a interim lightweight title bout between Donald Cerrone and Benson Henderson.

Wheeler (10-1) is currently riding a four-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming over Jasper Church at KOTC: "New Breed." He previously fought for the WEC from September 2007 to February 2008 where he went 1-1 with the promotion. He's got his first WEC win over Del Hawkins at WEC 32 and before that was handed his first career loss by Ian McCall at WEC 30. Wheeler has an won an astounding 8 of his 10 victories via submission.

Valencia (10-5) is coming off a win over Seth Dikun at WEC 38 in January and is now an even 3-3 in six straight appearances with the promotion. Prior to the win, he suffered back-to-back losses to Yoshiro Maeda and Dominick Cruz. Valencia holds other wins in the WEC over Antonio Banuelos and Ian McCall. Six of Valencia's 10 career wins have come via stoppage.
