Cung Le 'all in' for a possible fight with Chris Leben
by Hubert Lau on July 18, 2011

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le, desires to fight Chris Leben at UFC 138 according to mmamania.com.

"If the fans think it is an exciting fight for them to watch, I'm all for it." Le said.

Le (7-1) has been on a hiatus since his last bout against Scott Smith in mid 2010. Le won that bout with a beautifully timed spinning back kick that crumpled Smith to the canvas in the second round. That win also avenged Le's only loss and further established Le as one of the more exciting fighters in MMA.

UFC 138 is being held in San Jose, California which is right in Le's backyard since he trains at the American Kickboxing Academy based there.

"I'm one of those guys that, if it's going to be an exciting fight and a good match-up for the fans to watch, let's get it on. I have nothing to prove, so I'm down to fight anyone if it's going to be exciting for the fans to watch. Right now, it's all up to the UFC. Ever since I heard that Cain Velasquez was going to be fighting in San Jose...I would love to be on the same card." Le said.

A fight between Le and Leben is sure to please any fight fans as both men have put on striking clinics on their past opponents.

With the UFC acquisition of Strikeforce earlier this year, this bout is possible but would ultimately need confirmation from the UFC itself.

UFC 138 is headlined by a heavyweight title bout between Cain Velasquez defending against Junior dos Santos.

 |  (26) Comments JujitsWho: Leben would win this fight. JimLaheyTPS: Please book this fight. I, and I'm sure any MMA enthusiast, would love to see this fight. I also believe that Leben would take this and it is another stepping stone for Strikeforce fighters in the UFC which I'm sure almost every fan wants. I like Leben, as I love almost every fighter which is a stand first fighter, I would love to see him win again. Although I do believe that Leben isn't well rounded enough to be a contender and I believe that he is a gate-keeper, I love watching him and cant wait to see him again. ds1001: seeing le and leben go at it would be great. i see it being a great standup war Jambi: i dont think Le would stay concious for very long if this fight happened. Giada Esposito: I like this fight. I think people are underrating Le's standup skills. If this fight stays standing, I think Le has a better than 50% chance of winning. It being MMA, even a crowd pleaser like Leben might take the wiser route and take it to the ground, and I think he wins there. So probably I would pick Leben, even though he loves to brawl. This would be a really fun fight for the fans. :) Wandering_Minstrel: I think Leben drops him hard. JujitsWho: Le is overrated. He has decent kicks, but can't take a punch. I think Le would likely outpoint Leben most of the fight, but get caught later by Leben. Lady Dragon 420: Cung le got this. Hizoka: Les biggest chane is to break Lebans arm with a kick to keep from getting KOed.... but then again last time that happend in the UFC Chuck got retired... flyangler: Leben by KO. Isn't Le under contract with Stikeforce? Also this is a step back for Leben. I'd like to see him face a top five guy again like the winner of Sonnen/ Stann or Belfort if he wins. Miller would be good too after he whips Bisping, but that would be a long layoff. I love Leben:o
