Cung Le wants to fight in 2012
by Hubert Lau on February 09, 2012

UFC middleweight, Cung Le, plans to fight in 2012 according to his twitter account.

"@T_Webb_31: Cung Le any chance we see you back in the @ufc :) a thank you to your fans perhaps that's my plans this year!" Le said when addressing a fan.

Le (7-2) last fought at UFC 139 and was defeated by Wanderlei Silva via TKO in the second round. Despite the loss, it earned a Fight of the Night award as it was a back and forth affair, Le even dropped Silva with a spinning back fist. It was Le's first fight in over a year.

Between mid-2010 to UFC 139, Le was focused more on his acting skills and appeared in numerous martial arts related films. Prior to his acting career, Le rose to prominence in Strikeforce where he became the middleweight champion. Le also sports a 17-0 kickboxing record.

The 39 year old Le still has some fight left in him and his flashy striking is always a crowd pleaser. Matchups vary but a bout with muay thai specialist, Alan Belcher, is sure to bring fireworks or perhaps against one of the UFC's up and coming middleweights. Le currently lacks official booking.

 |  (19) Comments Wandering_Minstrel: Belcher would merk him. Le needs to stick to making crappy movies. JujitsWho: +2 Lady Dragon 420: Say what you will but i love to see Cung Le fight so this makes me happy. snuff: I like watching him fight too. At least he is entertaining. :) Giada Esposito: I'm telling all of you, Cung Le versus Demian Maia! Great fight right there. :) Giada Esposito: You guys are just being, um, I can't say it here. Maia may not have looked impressive lately, but he would never lower himself to butt scoot! It would be a great matchup between two very one-dimensional fighters. Except Maia has delusions of grandeur about his striking, which could make it interesting... Maia by a sweet sub or Le by a sweet KO. What's not to love? ds1001: no matter who he fights i will be excited to see him back in action Lady Dragon 420: Come on people don't be haters he always entertaining fights which is more than some people can say. flyangler: I was impressed with Le's performance against Wandy. I think he deserves another fight or two in the UFC. Belcher would be entertaning until the Talent subs him. I think a lesser opponent would be good like Sakara, or McGee
