For those who missed the live airing of DREAM 11, the replay will air at 10:00 p.m. EST on Friday, Oct. 9, on HDNet.
In the main event, Bibiano Fernandes defeated Hiroyuki Takaya to capture DREAM's featherweight grand prix title. Both men engaged in a back-and-forth battle. Most of the first round was in Takaya's favor as he got the better of the two in the stand up exchanges, actually rocking Fernandes on occasion and cutting the brow of his right eye just before the end of the round. Fernandes scored several takedowns during the bout and secured Takaya's back each time. The two went toe to toe in the closing minutes as Fernandes opened up his striking game, while Takaya continued to land the heavier blows.
Fernandes defeated Joe Warren earlier in the competition to advance to the final, and Takaya got to the final by taking out Hideo Tokoro. Also, waiting in the wings if someone could not fight was Kazuyuki Miyata, who defeated Daiki Hata in the Featherweight grand prix reserve bout.
In the co-main event, Shinya Aoki captured the DREAM lightweight title by defeating Joachim Hansen in their rubber match via second round submission.
Also featured at the event was the semi-final bouts to DREAM's "Super Hulk" open weight tournament. The five-foot-nine-inch Ikuhisa Minowa was able to defeat the 7-foot-2-inch Hong Man Choi and UFC veteran Sokoudjou, who took out Bob Sapp. Minowa and Sokoudjou will now meet in the "Super Hulk" final, which is expected to take place at Dynamite!! 2009 on New Year's Eve.
In other notable action, Japanese MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba scored a first-round submission win over MMA newcomer and professional boxer Rubin Williams. DREAM Lightweight title contender Tatsuya Kawajiri dispatched Melchor Manibusan in the first round via TKO due to strikes.
