Dan Hardy dislikes Matt Hughes and has asked Zuffa CEO, Lorenzo Fertitta, for a matchup with the former UFC welterweight champion according to bloodyelbow.com.
"I've mentioned Matt Hughes to Lorenzo (Fertitta). He's been on a rough streak as well recently, he'll look at me and see I've lost four fights and think he can outwrestle me," Hardy said.
Hardy (23-10 (1 no contest)) is in a dire need for a win. After kicking off his UFC career with four straight wins leading to a title fight with UFC welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, Hardy has dropped four in a row. His last bout was a third round submission loss to Chris Lytle at UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle.
Hughes is hardly in his prime but still a dangerous matchup for "The Outlaw" mostly due to his wrestling. If Hardy can keep the fight on its feet with good takedown defense, surely the momentum would be in his favor; Hughes was defeated in his past two fights via KO.
"I also genuinely don't like him. I need a fight to get up for and I'd take great pleasure in smashing him in the face. I won't talk about why I don't like him, it's some knowledge I have about him away from the sport. Even students around where he lives bet against him," Hardy said.
