Dan Hardy on GSP: "Twenty-five minutes is a long time to keep my hands off his chin"
by Jason Benfari on November 25, 2009

"I know I've got the skills to beat him. And it's just a case of getting in there and doing it. Obviously he's a tough opponent, there's a lot of things that I'm going to have to work on in order to get the win. But it's only going to make me better -- it's only going to push me forward and force me to my wrestling and my jiu-jitsu and things like that. In a kickboxing match, it's mine all day. I'm confident of that. But it's going to push me to work on things that need work on anyway and it's going to give me a good gauge of where I am in the sport. Twenty-five minutes is a long time to keep my hands off his chin. I could always walk away with that belt and surprise everybody." -Dan Hardy

UFC welterweight contender Dan Hardy is feeling supremely confident heading into his UFC welterweight championship showdown with the division champion, Georges St. Pierre.

St. Pierre (18-2) has dominated the division with consecutive lopsided victories over Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, Jon Fitch, B.J. Penn and Thiago Alves. The French-Canadian fighter has appeared unbeatable at welterweight over that span, and is, by all accounts, flirting with the possibility of moving up in weight in order to test himself in the UFC's middleweight division with the idea of eventually facing fellow pound-for-pound great, Anderson Silva. Before his possible ascension however, he'll have to first get past British up-and-comer, Dan Hardy.

Hardy (23-6) burst onto the welterweight title landscape with four-straight UFC victories over Akihiro Gono, Rory Markham. Marcus Davis, and Mike Swick respectively. The powerful striker also has very good jiu-jitsu and like St. Pierre, has studied martial arts from an early age.

The two look to battle for St. Pierre's welterweight title at UFC 111 in New Jersey this coming March according to sources close to the event.

 |  (21) Comments JujitsWho: Not if your on your back eating elbows dude. I like ya Hardy but.....Shhhhhhhhhhhh. You don't want to piss the dude off, you'll end up taking a worse beating than BJ did..............wow did I really just say that LOL. You bastards are rubbing off on me :D shawnb: Hardy is gonna get Mauled, Raped & Ass Spanked that is all alexbond: If I was Hardy I would pray I get finished early, it would suck to take a beating for 25 minutes like Alves or Fitch. IwishIwasMMA: LOL RIP Hardy you fucking idiot LMAO! Apparently Hardy is going to hit him once and put him to sleep I think is what he is saying? Apparently Hardy forgets that GSPs stand up is amazing. Just because GSP was caught by Serra who COULDNT KO him after he was disoriented from a back of the head shot should tell you that GSP has an awesome chin. Now add to the fact that Alves was EMBARRASSED in the stand up by being outpointed, out powered AND out skilled should tell you that GSP is good with both his hands AND feet. GSP has AWESOME foot work. Incredible. Hardy needs to get KOd and smell the smelling salts, he is going to get served up a treat of death in that ring. EverlastingSpringtime: I just hope GSP stands with him, beats him standing, takes him down beats him down, then lets him back up and finishes him............. that would be awesome :) Little_Kang: Thiago thought that too lol shawnb: I pick up a Tim Hortons coffee and baquel everyday on my way in to work
