A welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Carlos Condit is expected to take place at the as-of-yet announced UFC 120 event on October 16 at The 02 in London, England. News of the bout was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.
The UFC chose to go with Condit over rising welterweight contender Martin Kampmann, who was also being considered to face Hardy.
Hardy (23-7) will be fighting in his home country of England for the first time since UFC 105 in November 2009. He will be looking to get back on the winning track after being defeated by Georges St. Pierre in a UFC welterweight title bout at UFC 111 in March.
Hardy had previously won seven straight fights, including wins in his first four bouts in the UFC against Marcus Davis, Rory Markham, Akihiro Gono and Mike Swick. During his six-year career, he has competed for other notable promotions such as King of the Cage, Cage Force, Absolute Fighting Championships and Cage Warriors Fighting Championships.
Condit (25-5) is currently on a two-fight winning streak, picking up wins over Jake Ellenberger and most recently Rory MacDonald at UFC 115 earlier this month. Condit and MacDonald both took home an extra $85,000, as their UFC 115 bout was awarded the "Fight of the Night" bonus.
Condit now sports a 2-1 UFC record, suffering a loss in his Octagon debut against Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 18. Before his move to the UFC, Condit went a perfect 5-0 in the other ZUFFA-owned promotion, the WEC, capturing the promotion's welterweight title, while scoring wins over the likes of Brock Larson, John Alessio, Carlo Prater and Hiromitsu Miura.
