With the light heavyweight title picture set, Jon Jones to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 145, Dan Henderson looks to get back in the mix as he targets a April or May return according to mmamania.com.
"I don't know what the plan is, but I'd fight whoever it is they think would be a good match-up. The problem is there's really nobody right now who fits the bill for a title contention fight, that would make sense to fight me...But I would prefer to fight someone in April or May," Henderson said.
Henderson last defeated Shogun at UFC 139 via unanimous decision after a five round war. Presently as Henderson pointed out, he is in a peculiar position as he lacks a matchup but is also hard-pressed at finding a fight that makes sense. Perhaps a trip back up to the heavyweight division?
"Who do the fans want me to fight at heavyweight? I'd have to think about that...The heavyweights that are in title contention right now wouldn't want to fight me. I don't know who is out there, but I did let the UFC know I'd be open to that as well," Henderson said.
Henderson does suggest a rematch with Quinton Jackson but that is assuming that "Rampage" defeats his current opponent, Ryan Bader, at UFC 144 first. It remains unclear who "Hendo" would fight in his 2012 debut.
