Dan Miller will not be released from UFC following third straight loss
by Jacob Camargo on June 08, 2010

After middleweight Dan Miller (11-4) was dealt his third straight loss at the hands of Michael Bisping at UFC 114 last month, many thought it would signal the end of  the New Jersey native's once-promising UFC career.

However, the UFC has decided to give Miller another fight and chance to get his career back on track, according to a report from MMAjunkie.com. The news may be a surprise for Miller, who felt a three-fight losing streak would mean the end of his UFC career.

It is not currently known when Miller's next fight in the UFC will take place.

It has been a very trying year for Miller, both professionally and personally. He went into UFC 114 with a lot on his mind, which included dealing with the illness of his newborn son throughout his training camp, as well as the loss of his infant daughter in May 2009. However, Miller stated on many occasions in pre-fight interviews that he wasn't distracted and was fully prepared for his fight with Bisping.

Losses to Chael Sonnen at UFC 98 and Demian Maia at UFC 109 took place prior to Miller's aforementioned defeat to Bisping at UFC 114 on May 29. Miller, who is a jiu-jitsu black belt and has finished seven of his 11 career wins by submission, surprised many when he elected to keep the fight standing against Bisping. Though he connected several times with big punches on the British fighter and scored a dramatic takedown in the third round, Miller's rudimentary striking skills were just no match for Bisping's superior kickboxing, as he lost the majority of the exchanges en route to a decision loss.

Miller previously was on a 10-fight unbeaten streak, which included opening up his UFC career with wins in his first three bouts inside the Octagon over Rob Kimmons, Matt Horwich and Jake Rosholt.

Miller has fought the majority of his four-year career on the east coast for notable promotions such as Reality Fighting, Cage Fury Fighting Championships, Ring of Combat and the now-defunct IFL organization, where he captured the promotion's middleweight title. The AMA Fight Club holds other notable career wins over Ryan McGivern and John Howard.

Dan's a tough dude and a hard worker. Besides, his 3 losses are all to very good fighters. It's not like he lost to cans. Patrick Sullivan: It's heartbreaking what the Miller family has had to go through, but I understand his son, Daniel Jr., is doing a bit better.
