Dana White, Steve Cantwell's management disagree on fighter's future
by Natalia Baage on December 31, 2009

Steve Cantwell was forced to pull out of his light-heavyweight bout against Vladimir Matyushenko two days ago due to undisclosed medical reasons.

However, Cantwell's fighting future might be in jeopardy. While no exact details were given about his medical issues, it is difficult to speculate about the potential outcome.

But UFC President Dana White had some words about Cantwell's future, although he declined to go into any further detail on the subject.

"Cantwell has some medical problems, and he might not ever fight again," White said yesterday at a UFC 108 pre-fight press conference.

In response, Cantwell's management, Knock Out Representation, said that even though they have to sort out some problems about medical paperwork with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, their fighter is not in danger of never fighting again.

"We certainly feel that Steve will be able to continue his MMA career," a KOR spokesperson told Sherdog. "We anticipate getting in the cage and entertaining the fans in the near future."
