"I guarantee you 1,000 percent that Dan Henderson is signed by Strikeforce. Dan and I have been friends and we will continue to be friends, but it just didn't work out and he went to Strikeforce." - Dana White
UFC President Dana White postulates that MMA legend Dan Henderson has been signed by rival promotion, Strikeforce.
Henderson (25-7) is coming off of failed negotiations with the UFC to re-up with the organization after a 3-2 stint which saw him win his last three fights in-a-row against Rousimar Palhares, Rich Franklin and Michael Bisping respectively. The 39-year-old former Olympic wrestler has lobbied hard for a second shot at current middleweight champion and pound-for-pound great Anderson Silva, but was rebuffed in favor of resurgent UFC returnee Vitor Belfort.
Henderson has confirmed that he'll be in attendance at Strikeforce's debut CBS event this Saturday in Chicago, but it remains unknown as to whether he'll be announced as the organizations newest signee. What is known at this point, is that Henderson will be working the corner of Rameau Sokoudjou in the popular African's quest for a Strikeforce light-heavyweight title against Gegard Mousasi. It's also known that Henderson has accepted an invitation to attend the event as a guest.
It should also be noted that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has denounced any idea that he's already signed Henderson. The congenial frontman has admitted that the two sides have had conversations, but dismissed the idea that they were close to a deal.
Henderson's manager Aaron Crecy has echoed Coker's sentiments in recent comments, unequivocally stating that his client remains unsigned.
