by FiveKnuckles.com Staff on July 26, 2009

"Our goal was to keep Pride alive and running. I've talked about the corruption over there and basically, the mafia over there is keeping us out of Japan. It's a whole other world over there. It's a tough place to navigate. We're gonna get to Japan. We just did another television deal over there and we're gonna figure it out."

-UFC President Dana White talks about his organizations original plans for "PRIDE"; a highly popular Japanese MMA promotion that, at one time, rivaled the UFC in terms of talent. Pride fell on hard times financially however, and was eventually purchased by the UFC. PRIDE's  parent group later reformed and founded DREAM; Japan's current premier MMA promotion.
