Dana White likely to drop Frank Trigg from UFC
by Natalia Baage on September 21, 2009

Following Frank Trigg's TKO loss to Josh Koscheck this past weekend at UFC 103, Dana White is likely to terminate Trigg's contract with the organization.

Trigg's fight at UFC 103 marked his first fight back into the Octagon after he had been away for more than four years. But after his loss to Koscheck, White looks to have changed his mind about the welterweight fighter.

White told MMAJunkie.com that Trigg probably will not get another fight in the Octagon, and that he possibly will not even give it any more thought.

"These [other] guys are young and explosive," White said. "There's just a whole other level of talent out there, man, that's the way it works. That's the way this business is."

The decision has not been made official, and as of today, Trigg has only heard rumors.

"I think there is a mistake," Trigg wrote today via Twitter. "IF the UFC drops me I will retire, as of right now I'm still with the UFC looking for my next fight... If I can't fight for the UFC, I will move on to something else."

However, Trigg has said that if the UFC does terminate his contract, he will retire from the sport.

"If they say I'm done, I'm done," Trigg said. "If the UFC cuts me, I'm done fighting. I don't have the strength or determination to go fight in the minor leagues anymore. I've done it before. I didn't come back here for one fight... so I could say I retired as a UFC fighter. I came back to make a run at a title fight. I want to fight. But if they're done with me, that's it."

Trigg (19-7 MMA, 2-4 UFC) has had a solid career outside of the UFC, but has struggled within the organization. Three of his four losses with the UFC have come via rear naked choke by Matt Hughes (x2) and Georges St. Pierre.
