UFC president Dana White guarantees a Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans matchup if Evans can get pass his current matchup with Phil Davis at UFC on Fox 2 according to bloodyelbow.com.
Jones vs. Evans has been a matchup fans had wanted to see ever since Jones won the UFC's light heavyweight title. Previous attempts at setting up a fight between Jones and Evans have fallen through. The two former teammates have traded trash talk long enough and if Evans can get past Davis, the fight to settle the score will be possible.
"We're working on it now. We're going to obviously see what happens in this Rashad fight at the end of the month. The next fight on Fox, Rashad is fighting Davis, so we'll see what happens there...If Rashad wins, if Rashad comes out injury free, we'll get the Jon ‘Bones' Jones/Rashad Evans fight going," White said.
Despite previously stating his desires to take time off, Jones recently declared that he wants a fight as soon as possible. As a result, an ideal matchup for Jones would be against a healthy winner of the Evans vs. Davis. If the winner suffers an injury in their fight at UFC on Fox 2, resulting in a layoff, a matchup between Jones and Dan Henderson can be considered for UFC 145.
