Two-time Olympian Daniel Cormier has officially been added to the Strikeforce "Challenger Series" main card. His opponent will be Gray Frazier.
Cormier (0-0 MMA), who recently signed an eight-fight contract with Strikeforce, will appear in his debut on Sept. 25, fighting in the heavyweight division. Frazier (0-0 MMA) will also be making his debut at the event. Frazier fought in an amateur MMA bout last June, winning by first-round TKO.
Fanhouse.com first reported the fight match up. Mike Afromowitz, Strikeforce's Director of Comunications, confirmed to MMAJunkie.com that the Cormier vs. Frazier bout had officially been added to the roster.
Cormier has been training for the fight at the American Kickboxing Academy with Jon Fitch, Mike Swick, Josh Koscheck and Cain Velasquez.
The event, which is headlined by a bout between undefeated fighters Zak Cummings and Tim Kennedy, will be shown live on Showtime on Sept. 25 from Bixby, OK.
Cormier is a two-time Olympian, and the U.S. team's 2008 Olympic team captain. In 2004, he finished fourth in wrestling at the Athens Olympics. He also held a 117-10 overall collegiate record with three All-American honors.
