Darrill Schoonover vs. James McSweeney slated for TUF 10 finale
by Jacob Camargo on December 03, 2009

A heavyweight bout between TUF 10 cast members Darrill Schoonover and James McSweeney has been added to the un-aired preliminary portion of the Ultimate Fighter season 10 finale on Dec. 5 at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

Even though they were both on Team Rashad, Schoonover and McSweeney actually almost came to blows during the season. In a bonus video on Spike.com, McSweeney got in Schoonover's face at the training facility over an argument that stemmed from Schoonover's treatment of a bird back at the house.

Schoonover may be known this season for being the target of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's verbal abuse, which often led to heated confrontations between the two. He advanced in the TUF 10 heavyweight tournament by defeating Zak Jensen, but went on to lose to Marcus Jones via first-round knockout in the quarterfinals.

Prior to joining TUF 10, Schoonover put together a 10-0 MMA record. He last defeated Rex Richards at Shark Fights 4 in May. Schoonover has finished all of his 10 career wins, with five coming by submission and five by TKO or KO.

After his fight against McSweeney, Schoonover will be heading to Afghanistan, as he was called back to service. He previously completed four years in the Army.

McSweeney, who was referred to as the "bully" or the "instigator" of the house, scored a majority decision win over Wes Shivers in the opening round, however, he lost in the semifinals to Roy Nelson.

McSweeney most recently suffered a first-round submission loss against Ricardo Romero at Ring of Combat 24 in April. The loss was his second straight, with a previous loss coming against UFC veteran Neil Grove. The Cage Rage veteran sports a sub-par 3-4 MMA record, with all of his wins coming by TKO or KO. He is also an accomplished kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter, amassing an impressive 136-9 combined record in multiple kickboxing organizations.

TUF 10 finale is headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between undefeated phenom Jon "Bones" Jones and contender Matt Hamill. In addition, TUF 10 heavyweight finalists Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub will battle it out to see who will win the six-figure UFC contract.
