Former UFC middleweight title contender David Loiseau (19-9) will indeed get to make his Octagon after over a year away from the organization on another UFC card in his home country of Canada.
Loiseau will face Mario Miranda (9-1) on the un-aired preliminary portion of the UFC 115 card, which takes place on June 12 at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. News of the bout was reported by Sherdog.com.
Loiseau was originally set to make his Octagon return at UFC 113 on May 8 in Montreal, as he was set to replace the injured Nick Catone and face John Salter. However, the Quebec Athletic Commission denied him a license to fight at first after the commission had alleged a regional MMA promotion he was involved with had potential ties to organized crime.
"The Crow" was cleared of wrongdoing and the Commission ultimately granted him a license, however, it was too late, as the UFC already filled the replacement for Catone with Canadian Jason MacDonald.
Loiseau is 4-1 in his last five bouts and most recently defeated Chester Post at a Mixed Fight League event in February. His lone loss over that span came in his previous bout against Ed Herman at UFC 97 in April 2009 which led to his release from the UFC. It was his third stint with the promotion.
Loiseau has put together an even 4-4 record with the UFC, scoring Octagon wins over Mark Weir, Gideon Ray, Charles McCarthy and the late Evan Tanner, while suffering other UFC losses to Jorge Rivera, Mike Swick and Rich Franklin in a UFC middleweight title fight.
Miranda most recently suffered the first loss of his three-year career in his last bout, as he was defeated by Gerald Harris in his UFC debut at March's UFC Fight Night 21 event. Prior to the loss, he earned a UFC contract after winning the first nine bouts of his career, scoring notable wins over current UFC welterweight Ricky Story and former UFC middleweight Joe Vedepo.
Miranda, who trains out of Team AMC in Washington under Matt Hume, is veteran of other notable promotions such as Icon Sport and SportFight. He has finished seven of his nine career wins.
UFC 115 is headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between former champions Chuck Liddell and Rich Franklin. Other interesting bouts set to take place at the event include Patrick Barry vs. Mirko Filipovic, Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago, Evan Dunham vs. Tyson Griffin and Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit.
