Diego Sanchez is back in the spotlight after his fifth-round TKO stoppage loss to B.J. Penn at UFC 107 earlier this month.
Yesterday, Sanchez left the following status update on his Twitter account:
"I just want to take the time to thank god for giving me a great plastic surgeon and healing me so fast I'm 90% healed with no scar. wow god is great and also thanks to Dave sales my chiro who did cold laser on the scars and hooked me up with metagenics vitamin e for the scars . Thank you Jesus"
During the fight, Penn landed a severe kick to Sanchez's head, which tore the skin open and left a thick, bloody opening on Sanchez's forehead. Referee Herb Dean stopped the action and asked for a doctor to look at the gash. The head kick, in essence, stopped the fight and saw Penn retain his lightweight belt.
After the fight, Sanchez's skull could be seen through the opening of his skin. UFC President Dana White commented that "he's about as busted up as I've ever seen a guy."
On Monday, Sanchez posted the following update to his Twitter feed:
"Watched the fight again just now. Man that first round was tough to come back from. My game plan could have been better my boxing should have been sharper I should have forced more of a brawl to happen. But in the end I fought hard and he could not knock me out! my conditioning was good for 5 rounds. So now I know what to work on. To all my fans out there I will work my ass off on my boxing and cone back stronger than ever for a rematch BELIEVE!"
Sanchez holds a 21-3 MMA record; with a 10-3 record inside the Octagon. His only losses aside from the recent Penn bout were back-to-back loses to Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch in 2007.
