Diego Sanchez signs multiple-fight contract with UFC
by Natalia Baage on September 09, 2009

Diego Sanchez signed an extensive eight-fight contract with the UFC on Tuesday.  The re-signing was confirmed by Sanchez's rep, Jeff Clark, reported Sherdog.com

This opens up the chance for Sanchez's upcoming fight against B.J. Penn to co-headline UFC 107 on Dec. 12 in Memphis, TN.  This fight will be a lightweight title fight, and will mark Sanchez's third fight as a lightweight.

Sanchez holds a 21-2 MMA record, with his only losses coming from Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch.  He holds wins over Kenny Florian, Nick Diaz, Karo Parisyan, Joe Riggs, Joe Stevenson, and, most recently, Clay Guida.  His fight with Guida at the Ultimate Figher 9 finale, where he won a very tightly-contested split decision, received Fight of the Night honors.  Sanchez was also the middleweight division winner of TUF 1.
