Diego Sanchez talks about his recent bout with Jack Ellenberger and UFC fans might see Sanchez back in the 155lb rankings since "The Dream" is open to the possibility according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
Sanchez fought Ellenberger at UFC on Fuel and despite a solid third round performance, threatening with a rear naked choke as well as ground and pound, Sanchez loss via unanimous decision.
"I wish the fight would have been five rounds, I had some momentum going into a fourth, if there would have been a fourth. But it is what it is. I went for the stoppage, I should have gone for the choke," Sanchez said
Sanchez also revealed that he suffered a sprained ankle three weeks leading up to his fight but refused to withdrawal since he was already coming off of a layoff; a broken hand removed him from a bout with Matt Hughes at UFC 135. Looking ahead, Sanchez is open to returning to the UFC's lightweight division
"I am going to take the fights that propel me to the biggest stage and get these main events. 155 is never out of the question," Sanchez said.
Sanchez holds a 2-1 record in the three fights he spent at 155lb. Victories over Joe Stevenson and a Fight of the Year win against Clay Guida was offset but an unsuccessful title bid against then-champion, BJ Penn.
"I'm going to talk to Dana White and Joe Silva, see what we can put together, but more than likely I am going to be staying at welterweight," Sanchez said.
