Don King might have stopped Din Thomas from fighting Ricardo Mayorga, but that does not mean that Thomas is giving up hope.
"If Don King wont let Mayorga fight me in MMA, maybe he will let him box me. Somebody tell Don to holla at me..." Thomas said in a Tweet.
Initially set to take place in May, King filed an injuction, saying that Mayorga would be in breach of his contract should he fight Thomas. The whole event was later canceled.
"Don King knew what was gonna happen in the fight," Thomas told MMAFighting. "He knew that I was going to take his boy out, so he pulled the plug on it before I got a chance to beat up his boy Ricardo Mayorga."
However, Thomas has admitted that he doesn't think that the Thomas (25-8 MMA) vs. Mayorga (28-7-1 boxing) fight will ever happen.
"I don't think so," he said. "I hope it happens because that's unsettled business... But I don't think Don King will ever let it happen. Maybe in three years when his contract is up, we can do it. If not, maybe we can do it in the street! No, I'm just kidding!
"But hopefully, maybe if Don King ever lets it happen, it'll happen. If he wants me to box him, I'll box him. I like to throw down. And Ricardo Mayorga likes to thrown down. If he wants to box, we can box."
Thomas (25-8) stated that even though he did not fight, he was paid; while it was not the full purse, it was a larger cut than he had anticipated.
