A welterweight bout between Dustin Hazelett and Rick Story has been verbally agreed upon to take place on the UFC 117 card in August. News of the bout was first reported by MMAWeekly.com
It is not yet known if the bout will take place on televised main card portion of UFC 116 or the event's un-aired preliminary card.
Hazelett (12-5) hasn't fought since suffering a first-round knockout loss against Paul Daley at UFC 108 in January. He was originally slated to make his return against Dan Hardy at UFC 119 in September, however, he withdrew from the fight because he plans to get married around the same time.
The loss to Daley snapped a two-fight losing streak for Hazelett, as he previously scored back-to-back wins over Josh Burkman and Tamdan McCrory. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist has put together a 5-3 UFC record, with other Octagon wins over Steven Lynch, Jonathan Goulet and Diego Saraiva.
Story (10-3) is currently on a three fight winning streak, picking up wins over Brian Foster, Jesse Lennox and most recently Nick Osipczak at last month's UFC 112 event. Prior to the wins, he suffered a loss in his UFC debut against John Hathaway at UFC 99 last June.
Story has fought for other notable promotions throughout his three-year career such as Alaska Fighting Championship, Elite Warriors Championship and SportFight. He has finished half of his 10 career wins and holds other notable career wins over Brandon Melendez, Jake Ellenberger and Ryan Healy.
Though not officially announced, UFC 117 is expected take place on August 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, and will likely be headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between current champion Anderson Silva and outspoken challenger Chael Sonnen.
