Ed Soares Says GSP Not Ready for Anderson Silva
by Paulo Silva on July 23, 2008

Ed Soares, who manages Anderson Silva and the Nogueira brothers, recently sat down with ProMMARadio.com to discuss a variety of issues. Of note is what Soares had to say about a possible Silva-GSP matchup:

“That sounds great and I think GSP is an incredible fighter. But I think GSP needs to prove himself first. He still hasn’t had a successful title defense. I don’t really feel that he deserves it yet. Go defend your title a few times and then we’ll talk.”

Georges St. Pierre in moving up and fighting at middleweight in the future under the right circumstances, so the fight is a possibility.

"Maybe one day, yeah, if it's good. But for right now, I'd never fight and my friend Patrick Cote is going for the title. If the way is clear and the timing is good, I would do it."

First however, St. Pierre must get past Jon Fitch at UFC 87. Should he win that fight he'd likely face BJ Penn at the UFC's annual NYE show. If St. Pierre can come out on top in both of those fights the timing could be right for a move up to challenge Silva should he remain the middleweight champion.
