Erik Koch and Raphael Assuncao agree to fight at UFC 128
by Tim Groves on February 26, 2011

Erik Koch (11-1) and Raphael Assuncao (15-3) have agreed to fight at UFC 128, according to MMAWeekly.com.

Koch had been scheduled to fight Cub Swanson at UFC on Versus 3, but Swanson was forced off of the card due to an injury. The short amount of time until the bout left the UFC unable to find an opponent for Koch.

Assuncao was supposed to fight Manny Gamburyan at UFC 128 on March 19th, but Gamburyan had to withdraw from the bout because of an injury.

The UFC decided that the easiest solution would be to pit the two featherweights against each other at UFC 128. Koch will have two more weeks of training while Assuncao was already scheduled for the card.

The bout will take place on the unaired preliminary portion of the card.

UFC 128 will feature a light heavyweight title bout better Mauricio Rua and Jon Jones.
