Evan Tanner Died From Heat Exhaustion
by Gavin Vincent on September 11, 2008

A sheriff's deputy with the Imperial County Police told the Imperial Valley Press that former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner died of heat exhaustion. Those close to Tanner had been asserting that Tanner's dirt bike ran out of gas; a statement that was contradicted by authorities today who confirmed that his dirt bike still contained fuel.

Temperatures at Tanner's desert camp site reached in excess of 110 degrees according to officials; and Tanner, who's body was discovered miles away from his site, had simply run out of water. Empty water bottles were found near his body and his camp site supply was completely exhausted as well.

An autopsy is forthcoming.
