Fabricio Werdum to fight Roy Nelson at UFC 143

Fabricio Werdum is set to fight Ultimate Fighter season 10 winner, Roy Nelson, at UFC 143 according to mmaweekly.com.

Werdum (14-5-1) recently re-signed with the UFC through a four fight deal and have verbally confirmed his bout with "Big Country". Werdum's recent four fight run ended with a 3-1 record which includes a submission victory over Fedor Emelianenko and a unanimous decision loss in his last bout to Alistair Overeem.

Nelson (16-6) last defeated Mirko Filipovic via TKO at UFC 137 and took himself out of deep waters with the UFC as the win snapped a two fight skid.

UFC 143 is scheduled on February 4, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will feature Nick Diaz fighting Carlos Condit for the UFC's interim welterweight title while current champion, George St. Pierre, recovers from surgery. Werdum vs. Nelson is currently believed to be the co-main event.

Masternate: rooting for werdum but i feel like nelson has this The Hitman: I think Werdum takes this, if he can avoid the big shot from Nelson. If he works his standup enough I think he will be good to go. Werdum via UD Wandering_Minstrel: Intriguing matchup. Nelson's ground game may not be on the same level as Werdum's, but it is good enough, I think, to survive. Nelson hits hard and that may be the deciding factor here. nygiant: I have to go with Nelson on this one as well. Nelson's gg is good enough to avoid any submissions from Werdum and will eventually ko Werdum with a heavy overhand right...imo
