by Hubert Lau on December 12, 2011

Fedor Emelianenko returns to action against Satoshi Ishii at an M-1/Dream co-promoted New Year's Eve event according to mmafighting.com.

Emelianenko (32-4 (1 no contest)) last defeated UFC veteran, Jeff Monson, via unanimous decision in November. That win snapped a three fight spiral and "The Last Emperor" looks to build upon his Monson win when faces the former Olympic judo gold medalist in Ishii.

Heading into the bout, Ishii (4-1-1) is a rookie in the sport when compared to Emelianenko's 37 fight MMA career. Ishii fought Pride and WEC veteran, Paulo Filho, to a draw in his last bout where he also debuted in the light heavyweight division. Ishii holds two submission wins as well as a unanimous decision over MMA journeyman, Ikuhisa "The Punk" Minowa.

The event titled Fight for Japan: Genki Desu Ka Omisoko 2011 is to be held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and to air on HDNet. Also on the card is Shinya Aoki taking on Satoru Kitaok and a featherweight bout featuring Tatsuya Kawajiri fighting Kazuyuki Miyata.
