Former UFC fighter, Wesley Correira has been arrested for theft and burglary according to mmaweekly.com
Correira plead not guilty at the Hilo Circuit Court on charges of first degree theft and second degree burglary.
Police arrested Correira this past Wednesday for apparently robbing a home back in 2009. During this incident, Correira is believed to have stolen a television among other electronic equipment and appliances. For the theft charge, Correira was accused of stealing an iPhone from behind the counter of a local store. Correira has had previous run-ins with the law that include abuse of a family member among other charges.
Correira, more famously known as Cabbage, sports a 19-14 mixed martial arts record. He had a short run in the UFC with his memorable bout with Tim Sylvia. Correira displayed his famous iron chin in the bout as he ate many power shots without any noticeable damage or getting knockdown. However he was finally stopped by then top ranked heavyweight, Andrei Arlovski.
He left the UFC with a record of 2-2 with the promotion and went back to competing with smaller promotions, which he has done for the majority of his mixed martial arts career. Correira has also fought numerous times for the Hawaii based promotion, Rumble on the Rock.
Correira is currently held at $19,900 bail.
