Forrest Griffin Wants No Part Of Lyoto Machida
by Paulo Silva on July 01, 2008

Add Forrest Griffin to the ever expanding list of fighters that want nothing to do with Lyoto Machida. The Sun recently spoke with Griffin who had the following to say regarding a possible match up with the man they call "The Dragon":

"I want nothing to do with that guy. Not at all. He's a tough fighter and I'd like to fight a lot of other guys first."

Machida may have a difficult time finding opponents unless he can climb to the top of the division and become the light heavyweight champion. The undefeated Machida is a flawless defensive fighter with an unorthodox counterstriking style that routinely makes his opponents look plodding and uncoordinated. Think MMA's equivalent to boxing's Chris Bird in the 90's. There's only one title in the UFC however, and if Machida can win that title, he can't be ignored as Bird was. He'll likely get first crack at the winner of Jackson-Griffin as compensation for dispensing of Tito Ortiz and if he can win that fight than he'll have no shortage of opponents to embarrass with his unorthodox style.
