Lately it seems as if Forrest Griffin (18-6) just can't catch a break.
After injuring his foot training for Tito Ortiz and being forced to pull out of his bout with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114, word comes from MMAFighting.com that Griffin re-broke that foot in his bout with Rich Franklin at UFC 126.
"Right now, I can't jump rope or run," Griffin said. "I tried grappling but it was a bad idea. I wasn't ready. Just pushing off with it hurt."
Currently, Griffin does not have a target date to return, although he is attempting to stay in shape to expedite his return once his foot does heal.
Griffin got into a shouting match with Ortiz over Twitter this past week, when he poked fun at the former light heavyweight title holder.
"I am the new Tito, b---h about injuries after every fight, win or lose, hold guys down as much as possible, never finish a fight. checkallboxs," tweeted Griffin.
Ortiz quickly responded "Never defended a world title!, been KTFO!, runs out the cage like a b---h! Check all the above!"
Griffin insists that he meant the tweet as a joke. While the two are split at one fight a piece in their series, Griffin is setting his sites higher in the 205-pound class.
"I want to make a run in that direction, stack a couple wins together and let's see what happens. The mountain is tall. It's huge. I mean, look at the guys in the division. Lots of good guys. There's really no alternative. What are you going to do? Take a pay cut and fight lesser names? Might as well fight these good guys and see what happens."
