Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz rubber match set
by Hubert Lau on February 10, 2012

Zuffa CEO, Lorenzo Ferttita, confirms a third meeting between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin according to his twitter account.

Ferttita simply replied "Tito" when asked by a fan who Griffin was fighting next.

Ortiz and Griffin first clashed at UFC 59, Ortiz would win the bout via controversial split decision. The two met again, three years later, at UFC 106 with Griffin taking the split decision win and their series tied at 1-1.

This fight will also be the last fight on Ortiz's contract and it is likely that Ortiz will retire after the bout regardless of its result since he has stated that he wanted his fight against Griffin to be his farewell bout before he steps into retirement. Even with a win, it's hard to see Ortiz resign a multi-fight deal with the UFC. The former light heavyweight champion has been struggling as of late, 1-6-1 over eight fights.

For Griffin, the future of his career is uncertain. Griffin has expressed his loss of desire for fighting, especially after his recent KO loss to Mauricio Rua at UFC 139. Should he lose to Ortiz, it might very well be the last time we see Griffin in the Octagon.

Currently no set date has been arranged for their third meeting.

If it is the farewell fight of both of these guys, I hope to see a long standing ovation for them. Like them or not they both contributed a lot to the sport. Jambi: Hell, this is the fight they wanted, the both have a chance of winning this and it will end a nice trilogy. Not seeing anything bad about this. 0311USMC: I really hope it goes untill the 4th minute of the 3rd round and Forrest g-n-p's Tito to a TKO Wandering_Minstrel: I actually kinda want Tito to win this one... JujitsWho: Its a battle of division irrelevance..... JujitsWho: lol Lady Dragon 420: Tito:) GO HARD: im rooting for Tito... thinking a draw... but really Forrest should win this... The Hitman: I really don't want to see this fight happen. I would if both guys were on a 2 or 3 fight winstreak, but that's not the case. It seems pointless to me. Almost like a filler-fight.
