Zuffa CEO, Lorenzo Ferttita, confirms a third meeting between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin according to his twitter account.
Ferttita simply replied "Tito" when asked by a fan who Griffin was fighting next.
Ortiz and Griffin first clashed at UFC 59, Ortiz would win the bout via controversial split decision. The two met again, three years later, at UFC 106 with Griffin taking the split decision win and their series tied at 1-1.
This fight will also be the last fight on Ortiz's contract and it is likely that Ortiz will retire after the bout regardless of its result since he has stated that he wanted his fight against Griffin to be his farewell bout before he steps into retirement. Even with a win, it's hard to see Ortiz resign a multi-fight deal with the UFC. The former light heavyweight champion has been struggling as of late, 1-6-1 over eight fights.
For Griffin, the future of his career is uncertain. Griffin has expressed his loss of desire for fighting, especially after his recent KO loss to Mauricio Rua at UFC 139. Should he lose to Ortiz, it might very well be the last time we see Griffin in the Octagon.
Currently no set date has been arranged for their third meeting.
