Frank Mir: "I don't know how successfully Lesnar is going to be coming back."
by Natalia Baage on December 28, 2009

"I don't know how successfully he's going to be coming back. Obviously, I'm a little disappointed that he wasn't able to be up to par. But I think that's a question that's going to be over his head for a while. It wasn't like he was a technical fighter to begin with - where he's slipping punches and throwing crazy submissions on people. A lot of his style went upon his brute power and strength, and a good foundation of technique on top of that. But if Brock Lesnar is unable to put on the same kind of size that he has before... Is he going to be able to be a 300-pound guy again? I don't know. If that's not the case, I don't really think Brock Lesnar is going to be very successful as a fighter at 245 [pounds]."  - Frank Mir

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir continued his never-ending discussion about current champion Brock Lesnar.

In a recent interview with ESPN 1100, Mir talked about the psychological aspect about returning to the Octagon after a long layover due to injury. According to Mir, even long after his leg had healed (after his accident with the motorcycle), he still had a hard time accepting people kicking him in the leg. Even though he knew it was not injured anymore, there was still a psychological side effect.

Because of that, Mir wonders how Lesnar will react to getting struck in the body when he returns. And, he adds, he will not shy away from attacking Lesnar's stomach and abdomen area.

"If I had to fight Brock, the first thing I'm looking for is, 'Well, I'm gonna kick him in the gut or whenever I get an opportunity to knee him in the stomach,'" said Mir. "Obviously, that's gonna be an area you're gonna go for."
