Frank Mir on Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem: "Honestly, I think Brock will win pretty easily"

UFC heavyweight, Frank Mir, weighs in on the Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem bout scheduled for UFC 141 according to mmamania.com.

"Honestly, I think Brock will win pretty easily. I think we're going to see the closest thing to a grappler versus striker match you'll see nowadays," Mir said.

Lesnar was a two time All American division one wrestler back in his collegiate days and subsequently had a famous career with the WWF as a pro-wrestler. It is this background that Mir points to will be the key to Lesnar's victory over Overeem, so much so that Mir sees an easy fight for Lesnar.

"Brock is going to cover up; maybe throw one jab. He'll rush Overeem to the cage, reach down for a leg and rip him down.... I don't think he's going to get off his back. I'd be very shocked. I'd applaud Overeem if he got off his back," Mir added. 

On paper, Lesnar and Overeem's skill sets cannot be more of a polar opposite. Overeem is the former K-1 kickboxing champion, with a record of 10-4 and often prefers a stand up affair in his MMA bouts.

UFC 141 is scheduled on December 30, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Lesnar and Overeem are set to headline the event; this will be Lesnar's first fight after suffering another case of diverticulitis this past year.

Reem has never fought anyone with half the wresting of Crock... he does have an OK ground game but he cannot do anything to Crock on the ground... Reem has only a punchers chance and he will have under 20 seconds to land that punch before Crock starts dry humping to a win... Reem might be a good fighter outside the UFC... but in the UFC hes gonna get tested for roids (and get caught finally) or hes gonna start shrinking... either way he will be LUCKY to manage to stay in the top 5... my guess honestly is he ends up being the new Kongo as far as a gatekeeper.. Reems TDD% is in the high 70s, Brock has half a digestive system and a year + lay-off and before that his striking was sub par and his TD set ups were obvious, yeah Alastair is gonna kill him.
