A very interesting lightweight bout between east-coasters Frankie Edgar and Kurt Pellegrino is likely to take place at the Ultimate Fighter season 10 finale in Dec. News of the bout was first reported by ESPN's "MMA Live" host Jon Anik.
Edgar has won his last two bouts, which include a win over Hermes Franca, and in his most recent win, he picked up perhaps the biggest win of his career over former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk. Prior to the wins, he suffered the first loss of his career against Gray Maynard at UFN 13 last April.
Edgar has put together a 5-1 UFC record, with other big wins over Tyson Griffin, Mark Bocek and Spencer Fisher. The Ring of Combat and Reality Fighting veteran sports a very impressive, near flawless, 10-1 overall MMA record, with notable career wins coming outside the UFC over Deividas Taurosevicius and Jim Miller.
Pellegrino (14-4) is streaking as well as he has won three straight fights against the likes of Thiago Tavares, Rob Emerson and most recently against Josh Neer at last month's UFC 101. He has not loss since the same event Edgar lost at: last April's UFN 13, where he was defeated by TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz.
"Batman" holds a 6-3 record in nine appearances under the UFC banner, with other notable Octagon wins over Nate Mohr and Junior Assuncao. The seven-year veteran of the sport has fought for numerous promotions in his career such as Pancrese, WEC, Ring of Combat, Reality Fighting and Absolute Fighting Championships. He has finished 11 of his 14 career wins and he holds other notable wins over Mac Danzig and Sergey Golyaev.
TUF 10 finale takes place on Dec. 5 from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV, and the main card will be televsied on Spike TV. The event will feature a battle between the top two heavyweight finalists from the 10th season of the Ultimate Fighter, as well as a light-heavyweight bout between undefeated phenom Jon "Bones" Jones and contender Matt Hamill.
